Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens
Designed exclusively for Nikon DX-format SLR cameras, this 18-55mm lens approximates the picture angle performance of a 27-82.5mm lens in the 35mm format, ensuring superb versatility in a wide variety of shooting situations.
The lens offers such features as a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) with a compact rod-type design that provides fast, ultra-quiet autofocusing; an ED glass element that minimizes chromatic aberration and produces a superior optical performance; a hybrid aspherical element that delivers high resolution and contrast; and a seven-blade rounded diaphragm that produces more natural out-of-focus highlights. The focus mode switch, meanwhile, makes it a breeze to switch quickly between autofocus (A) and manual (M) focus.

Sub-par
I guess the product is ok. The problem I have with this lens is that it was made with good intentions but falls short in every way.

Fine lens
Although this lens does not have Nikon’s VR – vibration reduction – it is definitely more than worth the price.

Excellent lens for the money but fragile
It’s a good thing that this great walking around lens is inexpensive because unlike Nikkor lenses of yore, it is very fragile.

Great lens – Great macro
I am very pleased with this lens. I mostly bought it for macro photos, but is gave me a whole new perspective for a “normal” lens for digital 35 mm SLR. Very pleased indeed.

Great value lens!!
For experienced shooters, don’t expect much. For those just starting out with digital SLR photography, it’s the best kit lens to use.

You get what you pay for!
I got this lens as well as the 55-200mm VR lens as a kit for my D80. For the price you can’t beat what the lens does, but you will not be getting a lens that performs well.

Excellent Short Zoom Lens
I got this lens as part of a package with a Nikon D40x camera. While the 18-55mm range is a bit short for my taste, I do like using this lens.

A good kit lens
Slow lens, nice optics, very lightweight but fragile in appearance. Consider instead the 18-200 mm with vibration reduction.

Great Everyday Lens
I have 6 different focal length Nikon AF lens and this works great with my D50 SLR as an all purpose lens.

Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom Lens
This is a light, quiet, fairly fast focus lens that has low distortion for the price with seven diaphragm blades which are rounded at the larger apertures (this is good).
